General guidelines and rules

The selection of applicants is based on the scientific scope of the STSM application that must be in line with the Action objectives.

Applicants must be engaged in a research programme as a postgraduate student or postdoctoral fellow (less than – PHD + 8 years), or be employed by or officially affiliated to an institution or legal entity having accepted the MoU of the Action.

A STSM can last from 5 days to 3 months.

The STSM grant is a fixed contribution on the applicant’s request and can be up to 2 500€. It supports the costs associated with the exchange visit (travel, meals).

An online application form has to be submitted, with all the necessary documents:

  • A short project description underlining how the topic fit with the goals of the Action
  • An acceptance letter from the host laboratory
  • A support letter from the home institution
  • A full CV
  • A motivation letter
  • A list of publications

After the STSM, the grantee is required to submit a short scientific report to the host institution and the Management Committee Chair within 30 days.

It should contain the following information:

  • Purpose of the STSM
  • Description of the work carried out during the STSM
  • Description of the main results obtained
  • Future collaboration with host institution (if applicable)
  • Foreseen publications/articles resulting or to result from the STSM (if applicable)
  • Confirmation by the host institution of the successful execution of the STSM

After the approval of the scientific report the grant can be paid.

NOTE: up to EUR 500 may be attributed for the travel expenses.
